Notes:

Gnome-vim is a bonobo-component version of the VIM editor.

The ultimate goal of the project is to make it possible to use vim easily from any GUI program, so that vim users can take advantage of quality software without having to give up vim. If a high enough level of editor-pluggability can be achieved within the Gnome community, it will become equally easy to support other editors like Emacs -- but that's not my personal itch. :)

The more difficult challenge right now, however, is to define good editor interfaces which support the functionality required by the container applications, and to promote the use of these interfaces.

Currently is is possible to use Vim in Ximian Evolution for composing email messages.

Gnome-vim's current implementation fires up an instance of vim running inside a ZVT widget, and communicates with the vim instance by means of the client-server protocol available in vim 6.x.

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
