Notes:

Gutenprint
Gutenprint (formerly gimp-print) is a package of high quality printer drivers, primarily for the inexpensive but high quality inkjet printers that have been flooding the market.
The same code base is used for the print plug-in for the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), a Ghostscript driver, and a CUPS driver. Currently, the best support is for Epson Stylus printers, because Epson has been much more willing to provide information than any of the other printer vendors.

Gimp Print
The Gimp Print project derived the project name from the after the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP).
In 2004 the project name was changed to Guten Print, a name that is both Good and evokes the memory of Johannes Gutenberg whose moveable type printing press had a profound effect on European history.
