Notes:

dffingerd is a finger daemon designed to run chroot()ed under a nonroot uid. It reads all its data from a cdb which will be created by dffingerd-conf. It does its interfacing to the network via tcpserver/ucspi-tcp and logs to stderr. dffingerd is designed to run supervised by daemontools and feed its output to multilog, but can be used even with plain inetd. Running chrooted, dffingerd has only the ability to read its data from a single file, data.cdb. It is designd to send out only exact the data the administrator wants to be given out and to be free of security-critical bugs. By using a cdb, dffingerd scales very well. It can handle tens of thousands of different users without degenerating preformance. It can use IPv6 as transport. It was mainly ment as proof of concept for using djb-coding style but is used in a real-world enviroment now.
