It is useful for the modular implementation and maintenance of Web applications, and for resource sharing between them. It provides sessioning, permissions management, pluggable and extensible package/component architecture, many useful libraries for Web programming, and lots of documentation.

FOAF updates: Trust rankings are now exported, making the data available to other users and websites. An external FOAF URI has been added, allowing users to link to an additional FOAF file.
