Thanks, ec emry@jivaroinc.com OPEN SOURCE ENGINEER We are looking for Engineers and Support Engineers with talent and guts. Do you have a strong passion in writing software that works? Are you passionate about not only the code, but also the customer? If so, we want to hear from you. We are looking for an Open Source Engineer who will be spending most of their time working in open source projects, developing features, fixing bugs and helping the community build a better product. In addition, you will help very technical customers solve very technical problems, and help move these fixes into the core codebase. If you are an Engineer that likes to fix things. If you have fixed many bugs in various Open Source projects. If you like looking "under the hood" of software projects. Join us and be part of the company that is revolutionizing how software is consumed and distributed. Required Skills: * A passion for ensuring customers are successful * Deep understanding of the internals of one or more of the following: o Apache, MySQL, PHP, Perl, Java, Struts, Hibernate, etc... * Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills * Strong spoken and written English * Usage of Linux / Apache / MySQL / PHP or Perl * Application development / deployment experience * Server Side Java (including one or more of Struts / Tomcat / Hibernate, etcŠ) * Deep C/C++ Programming and debugging skills (helpful but not needed) * Knowledge of software build / patch / deployment processes and procedures (i.e. automake, autoconf, etcŠ) Responsibilities: * Help Devleop, Debug and Patch popular Open Source projects (and get paid for it!) * Help Customers solve deeply technical and difficult issues, and roll these patches beack into the Open Source Codebase * Help develop internal software to make diagnosing customer issues easeier and more efficient * Participate in pager rotation * Be an active participant in Open Source Communities
