Notes:

You read it here first. :-)

This project, started as cdindex has its roots in the act of cddb (a database on the Internet, where you can try to match an audio CD against, to retrieve or store album/track/artist information) going commercial in an unpleasant way and the resulting upcry on Slashdot, because of the way volunteer provided data was handled.

After the initial hot discussion settled, and everybody and his dog shoveled their good ideas on the desk, only a small bunch of folks were left to actually do a work certainly less sexy than kernel hacking. This teached me much about open source. :-)

In the meantime the scope was extended from CD Audio to lyrics and mp3/ogg tracks and the project will relaunch as MusicBrainz in public soon.

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.

Keep up with the latest Advogato features by reading the Advogato status blog.
