Notes: MapMarkers is a perl library (.pm) that you can use in a perl script to create a map covered by markers. The API is very simple, since there are 3 commands:

new to load an image containing a map; it also need the type of projection your map is (mercator, sinusoidal, ...), and some lon/lat info about it.
add is used to add a marker; each marker can have its own shape, color, border, text color, size, font...
draw is used to draw (including facultative overlap correction) and to save the map.

MapMarkers depends on the perl GD library, libgd (2), and libttf (2).
