Inkscape is a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) based graphics editor, featuring alpha blending, node editing, SVG to PNG export, and more.
Its goal is for features similar to and beyond Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw and other vector graphics applications.

Inkscape was founded in 2003 by four Sodipodi developers, Bryce Harrington, MenTaLguY, Nathan Hurst, and Ted Gould, with the mission of creating a fully compliant SVG drawing tool written in C++ with a new Gnome HIG (Human Interface Guidelines) compliant interface and an open, community-oriented development process.

OpenClipart.org is a spinoff project of Inkscape
