Homepage: http://www.advogato.org/Notes:
Since 1999, Advogato's goal has been to serve as a friendly gathering place for everyone in the free software and open source communities. Advogato offers a flow of FOSS related articles on the mainpage but what it has become known for is the recentlog, a single page where you can read the blog posts of a wide cross section of our community.
Advogato offers a home page and a blogging system to those who need it. If you already have a blog, please consider syndicating it here so the rest of the community can read it. Each Advogato account includes an RSS feed for the blog and a FOAF RDF file for the account info, tying you into the Semantic web.
The site uses a trust metric system in which members of the community certify each other, creating a web of trust that lets you know at a glance that another user is a valid member of the community and not a spammer.

Advogato Needs Your Help
For a long time, development on mod_virgule, the software underlying Advogato, stalled, causing Advogato to drop behind the technology curve. Maintenance of the Advogato website itself has also been lacking for several years. Development on mod_virgule has been picked up again now. Old bugs are being fixed and new features are being added as quickly as possible. Read Robogato's blog to follow the progress. It is hoped that Advogato will be on the leading edge of community websites again before long, but there's a lot of work to do and we'll need your help. Send an email to gato@advogato.org if you're willing to help make Advogato a better place by working on any of the following items.
New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
Keep up with the latest Advogato features by reading the Advogato status blog.
If you're a C programmer with some spare time, take a look at the mod_virgule project page and help us with one of the tasks on the ToDo list!
