The GNOME summit was this weekend. What to say...a lot got discussed, and there's definitely something brewing. I never realized I'd have to be a user advocate in this group; it's amazing what you learn once the irc names become faces.

On one hand there's this mantra of "non-programmers," the supporters, usability experts (ok...that was a shameless plug), testers, and users being important to the project. Perhaps we're even imperative. But there's also this feeling of exclusion. I hate that. I wish I didn't have to be the one to remind some hackers that there's a larger community of non-hacker GNOME users out there, and that they need support too...internal corporate support ain't gonna do it.

But that's just ranting.

Time for sleep. 3am and all.

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
