Oops... don't attempt blogging while drunk. (Don't look at the Advogato articles on the front page. No, really, don't.)
fedora.us is populated with FC 1.91 (test2). Mass rebuild is coming later this week, but in the mean time the existing 1.90 packages should be 99% working. Please let me know if you run into any breakage or conflicts.
Extremely unhappy school week. =(
Saw the movie Hidalgo a few days ago. It was not bad. I have a sudden and unexplained urge to go horseback riding. This also somehow reminds me about raw horse meat that they serve in a dish somewhere in southern Japan. I need to visit Japan one day.
It seems that the FC2 Test2 kernel froze one week early in order to avoid unexpected breakage in the test2 installer. Arjan however continues to publish newer kernel test builds at his people page.
Something from a recent rawhide change seems to have made all of the default fonts different. I am not sure if it is better, because I have a massive headache. This headache could either be from the fonts being suddenly very sharp & awesome looking on my LCD display, or going cold turkey from the Celexa.

Mostly busy with school work and still struggling with health problems, so being very useful for Fedora at the moment.
Damn it.
Worked on getting testing the Asus K8V Athlon64 motherboard stability today. XFree86 from FC1 AMD64 XFree86-4.3.0-55 seems to kill the video output when DRI is enabled with my "built by" Radeon 9200. It turns out that I had to force AGP 4x mode, because the default AGP 8x is unsupported for now. Seems stable in 4x.
1. Firefox 0.8 release
https://bugzilla.fedora.us/show_bug.cgi?id=1272
Candidate binaries have been available for testing for several days now. It would REALLY help if we get feedback on this before pushing it. We hope to make a simultaneous release on fedora.us Extras for RH8, RH9, FC1 and 1.90 of firefox-0.8. I am currently installing RH8 and RH9 in VMWare in order to easily to testing of this kind of stuff in the future. The old distributions are mainly to supercede and remove MozillaFirebird (and the SRPM rebuilt with no additional effort).
2. apt
https://bugzilla.fedora.us/show_bug.cgi?id=1180
One blocker that needs to be corrected before release. Please test the current candidate binaries for FC1 and 1.90 as they are not effected by the blocker issue. The blocker is only for the buildsys and epoch-promotion behavior of older distributions. Only waiting for Panu to resubmit.
3. School work... I still need to setup that CVS server for the group project, among a few hundred other tasks. Sigh...
4. Setup Athlon64 workstation Got replacement motherboard and swapped the parts out. Did not get to test it running yet. Hopefully Saturday I will have an opportunity to test the FC1 AMD64 ISOs before they hit mirrors for the upcoming release. I don't know all the details about that release. Ask Fedora64 or notting.
Hmm, can anyone (with actual experience) recommend a good free/open CVS clients for Windows? I need to do a school project and work with group members checking in our project code into a CVS repository. I need to setup the CVS server and provide clients and documentation for the group members.
kernel-2.6.3-1.106 seems to solve the "X dies immediately with signall 11" issue from yesterday. airo seems working too, but not entirely sure yet.

* Adaptec SCSI RAID with dpt_i2o is totally broken in the 2.6 kernel, and never did work on any 64bit arch. Apparently Adaptec never saw this as a problem. Testing some patches sent via Alan to see if this can be made at least somewhat working with the generic I2O layer of the 2.6 kernel for FC2. UPDATE: It burned down in flames. This is not a positive sign.
* The 2.6.3-1.99 FC development kernel seems to cause XFree86 to die with signal 11 immediately. I suppose that bug will be fixed quickly. Currently using 2.6.3-1.97 with VMWare 4.0.5 on my IBM Thinkpad T41. -97 seems to have an issue where setting the WEP key fails sometimes and I have no choice but to reboot. Strangely it works in -96, but not -97 unless I shut down the entire laptop. Comparison of -96 and -97 shows no changes in the airo code. -99 seems to work again, but the XFree86 issue is only a bit annoying.
* Too tired to list more stuff...
I suppose I should include something personal in this entry too. My favorite musician is Tori Amos, but I've been listening to Sarah McLachlan lately. Yeah I use VMWare mostly for Rhapsody. It does not work in Wine. Somebody please convince them to release a Linux native client.
