Recent blog entries for woot

Well, my first diary entry. Finally I get around to seeing what all the fuss is about.

Thoughts

My main interest at the moment is getting more young people involved in free software projects. I know there are patches of people who are very committed to OSS, but these people seem to be few and far between. From my observations at my school and surrounding ones, Microsoft seems to have won. This is not a good thing.

I think that we need to do more to encourage young people to use free software, play with it, get used to it, and then recommend it to others. If we don't do this, the free software generation will collectively age, until we all die, which cannot be a good thing.

Holidays

I'm on holidays at the moment, so everything is pretty relaxed. Went shopping for CDs yesterday. Didn't buy anything, but found a nice Laurent Garnier CD. I'm also getting in a Delicatessen CD.

These holidays I'm working on people skills. Quite often I'll hardly say anything to anyone all day, so I plan on practicing being nice and what have you. I also need to get a SO to win a bet.

Anyway, enough for a first entry.

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
