I began today by sleeping in till my body woke me up, not
my alarm clock. Hopefully reclaimed some lost sleep for
the past few weeks. Not nearly enough however.

For the last few days I've started processing new music for
the radio station, WMWM I volunteer at. Notable albums are
DJ Cam's - Lao Project and Bob Holroyd - A different
Space. Both of these artists are on the Six Degrees
Records label. DJ Cam rings in a similiar sound to DJ
Food, and Coldcut with a splash of soul. According to the
six degrees web site, Banco De Gaia seems to be producing a
new album, can't wait to get my hands on that.

GPMS (gnu project management system) has started to
move forward. I've had responses from people who have been
interested in working on the project. We really could use
some more individuals who can contribute about 8 hours a
week to the project.

The type of people needed so far are:

XML Junkies

Project Managers

Software Engineers

User Interface Design/Human Factors

I've put together a first draft gpms web
site, and will try to maintain it as GPMS progresses.

Today started off mildly Ok. I wrestled with Mediaone's
support centers yet again. Fortunately since I applied the
call after midnight approach I was able to jump right to
their Tier 3 support team. Tier 1, 2 are an utter joke,
and should be burned at the stake. In short Mediaone
decided that when I got my cable modem, I also should get
cable TV... that would be great, but I didn't order TV,
nor did I feel like paying $30 more a month for it. In the
long run I was assisted by a wonderful employee of their
Tier 3 support, along with 2 senior managers.

The result? Well, I went from a $265 dollar bill, to $228
including a few free months of service, back credits for
the cable charges, and other nice things.

My previous diary journal expressed the desire to start a
GPL'd Project Management System. Sooner than I
would have expected I've recieved e-mails about people
willing to join in on the effort. I will try to post some
links related to where our project will begin its
electronic life later today.

Other than that, real work ushers its way into my life
today. I'll be bringing my projects new source tree up to
date to include the previous source trees features, as well
as those new features that would not integrate well with
the previous design.

It occured to me that my e-mail wasn't posted, or quickly
available, so here it's leif@marblehead.com.

If you have any brainstorms, or ideas on how we could
create an effective GPL'd Project Management
software suite, please send me an e-mail. I will attempt
to merge and post all related submissions on the forth
coming(sp?) web site.

Today has been a fairly productive day so far. I found out
that a good friend of mine has dragged his corpse back from
the summer camp he works at. I still question his thought
patern as he chooses being stranded outdoors in a tent with
many screaming 9 year olds, rather than in a nice
office playing with Linux on some really nice machines. I
like the outdoors aspect of his job, but having to deal
with all those kids would wear quickly on me.

As far as work goes at the moment, I'm developing some
tools to assist project managers. I'm hoping to bring the
knowledge I learned from reverse engineering Microsoft
Project to some sort of GPL'd project management
package.
Unfortunately before I could tackle that project, I would
probably need to start learning more about programming
applications with X.

Emm... lack of time, learning X... In retrospect lets think
web based using a combination of html/php/xml/*sql

I'm curious as to how this first diary entry will look. So
just read this as an encrypted message... Maybe you'll find
the "secretive" inner meaning.
