Thought:Anyone who derides beauty and ease of use has an interest in preserving the ugly and the difficult as their own domain. Hence the patriarchal journalists mocking the iBook and iMac as toylike, over-friendly, too simple. Hence certain l33t h4x0rs questioning the masculinity of graphical user interfaces and their developers.
When information is truly free, the patriarchy of news media will fall; when computers are truly useful to all, nobody will mock their manufacturers for serving a consumer outside the beige and grey corporate space. When software is truly free, the elitist posturing of l33t h4x0r will finally be irrelevant, and the true champions of free software revealed as the ones who strove all along for universality.
