Started classes in data structures and discrete math. Its
nice to have a formal instruction on things I've taught
myself in the past. I'm actually going to have a lot of
fun this semester.

Continuing to design the virtual world idea.
Went through the Icezelion Assembly Tutorials (win32 asm)
and have started in earnest to learn several ide's (for the
future) while working through Vol. 1 of Knuth.
... also planning to start a second bachelors (CS) this
spring..

>Time passes...
Passed the Java 2 certification a while back and I am
having a grand time planning a virtual world program using
the Java3D api (directx version may also occur if
performance suffers. Heh.)
Still reading everything and
anything: gradually making my way through two years of
subscriptions to C++ Report (RIP), CUJ, Embedded Systems
Prog., and others (msdn, java dev j., windows dj... lets
just say that CMP is very happy), "Clouds To Code", Abrash,
and
the ever present Design Patterns.

I have an appointment (finally) for the certification at
the end of March; cool beans, the test center is about 5
minutes away. Continuing to read *Rebel Code* and the
Knuth *Art of Computer Programming* volumes as well as
coding as much Java as I can. The greatest thing: this is
just the beginning of the second phase of software (as an
industry), and I am afraid I drank too uch wine for lunch
today.

Time to start using my account diary I suppose. My current
interests: assembly, linux (the kernel), taking the java 2
cert., c/c++. Up to this point (first machine: a 1985
Franklin 8086 PC running DOS and running Kermit for BBS
access and chatting directly with my friend's macintosh) I
ve been strictly a programming hobbist but I ve recently
wanted to make it a profession. Hmmm, my biggest regret
was not majoring in CS since it gives one carte blache
nowadays (back then, though...) Wow, what a depressing
start! Time to pick a project and comb through the sources.
