Evolution of Imagined Worlds
nutella, welcome back. care to take a bite of late night poetry pizza at Diner? Also i wrote to two of my friends both are gifted musician in their own ways about Michael Crawford's article 'i have so many questions about music'. The coincidence is i've learned a few piano pieces by myself but Pachelbel's Canon is the one that i practiced often enough that my fingers simply remember the scales by themselves. When i visited my friend Jun in Boston, he has a VERY out of tune piano in the living room. He and his wife Wen play and sing some old Chinese/Russian folk songs that didn't seem to get out of tune at all. When i tried to play 'Canon', i just couldn't finish it on that piano. Guess the piano wasn't meant for Pachelbel's Canon.
For films on DVD, highly recommend 'La Belle Noiseuse' by Jacques Rivette. 'It really striked me this time for what i understood now what art and doing art is all about. It is to love despite ignorance, hatred and shame. only when we have the courage to discard all that is not-the-essence of being human, can we get a glimpse oof the divine purpose of creation, which is to put down the pride of realized being and to raise its consciousness towards all unrealized dreams no matter how crude or cruel that dream may first appear to our past existence."
returned from a most wonderful trip to Boston staying at my college classmate Jun and his wife Wen's lovely home by the lake in Brighton. Jun now teaches at Central Academy of Fine Arts . He also runs a small design firm on the side...Although, my voice was gone due to the cold by which Jun's wife Wen believed it's all Jun's fault of spreading the cold germ around the house. All of us ended up with coughing and sour throat... New Year feels VERY promising.
at I.B.M, that Google thing is so yesteryear...yeh, but i'm not at I.B.M...
yo, bro, do you know that Vinton Cerf married a profoundly deaf lady by the name of Sigrid ? ( be afraid of that lady if you sit next to her on an airplane...) Cerf communicated with his wife using a teletypewriter for text messaging over ARPANET. Had it not been for Cerf developing a way to communicate with Sigrid, e-mail may not have been part of the initial release of ARPANET, the precursor to Internet. On another note, Cerf's work led to the term, "Cerfing the net."
