There is something rotten with the state of Advogato

First of all, the case of the missing accounts. E.g Stevey (now skx) and salmoni. Speaking of accounts; The people-page is empty.

Wait, there's more. Stevey's new RSS-feed didn't work until he had written ten posts, but my feed works eventhough I have only written five.

With this last thing the error could be with the posters, but I'm not sure. The thing is that in the RSS-feed, Nymia's links all look like this: <a href="" 'http://advogato.org/person/wingo/diary.html?start=96'>Wingo's post</a>, but on the web they looks and works fine. Mchirico's links in the feed looks almost the same: <a href="http" ://freshmeat.net/articles/view/1428/>SQLite Tutorial</a>, and these too, both looks and works fine on the web. Strange, indeed.

caio1982

Not to be rude or anything, but your mozilla SVG-images really stinks. They're several 100 kB big and two of them doesn't look very good either.

Compare your mozdev.svg with mine and your mozillaorg.svg with mine.
My pics are 3.3 and 1.9 kB respectively. Yours are 489 and 194 kB.

The trick?

potrace -s -t 0 -a 0 -o output.svg input.pnm

I have no idea how you got the lizard heads so big, but it (the source) looks really messy. Haven't had the time to redo them yet.

update

For some reason your lizard heads have a gazillion tiny/invisible dots in different colors. After reworking your trex.svg I got it down to 5.6 kB from 557 kB. My own b/w mozilla head is even smaller, just 4.9 kB.

The gecko looks great, though!

Life

I live without running water, since some clumsy plumber cut the wrong pipe, during the renovation going on in the house.

Reported an ukrainan child porn site to Save the Children Sweden's Hotline Against Online Childpornography.

Got the URL from some thai spammer. Grrr.

Intro

Since this is my first post here, I thought a little presentation of myself would be nice.

I've been reading diaries here for quite some time now (maybe a year) but never created an account since I've blogged in swedish elsewere.

I'm a 21 year old compsci student living in Sweden and I'm your classic punkrock übergeek. I started programming at age 9 when my stepfather got an old C64, but even though I've went from BASIC to Pascal to C++ with good grades in high school programming classes I've been too lazy to build anything bigger than an ugly frogger-clone for DOS.

I started using free software in 1999 when I installed RedHat on an old P66 that was the result of begging and dumpster diving. Today I run debian on a Celeron 433 (the 17 inch screen, 10/100mbit NIC, keyboard-with-nice-extra-buttons, 40x cd drive, 9 gb hd and hp laserjet connected to this computer are all from dumpsters).

The only good things I've done for the free software community is a translation of an old sylpheed FAQ, some very minor translations for blackbox, some bug reports and a little newbie handholding.

btw, my english is really bad.

yeah. and now the true reason this is the day I got an account:

MisterP

Which "C by example" are you speaking about? I found two different at my local online bookshop; One by Perry and one by Kalicharan.
Since the first one is cheaper I hope that's the one. ;)
