I have been trying to get back into mozilla recently. I got a tree built, it is very interesting to say the least to build mozilla on windows using cygwin. Now if we could only build with gcc on windows instead of vcc, but i suppose there are good reasons not to do that.
There is some very interesting work going on with mozilla and the browser. Maybe the mail client will receive something similar, though I must say the mail client is very nice and 1.0 promises to be an excellent release.

Does one's rating slowly decrease or something over a given period of time?

Anyways its my birthday.

bye.

Just a little rant. I am tired of all the back and forth bickering among developers regarding the Qt/KDE problem. The solution is simple enough: 1) Make the QPL GPL compatible, this is the easiest. 2) Give KDE apps an exception to link with Qt, this is harder than adding one line to the code. There are literaly hundreds of developers who would need to be contacted and that may be impossible. 3) Just get over it, while I dont like this one so much lets face it this will not stop Joe User from using KDE. How many times do people actually read licenses? Not very often. For example I instal MS Word not because I agree with or like the license but because I either need or want to use it.

Raph I read your post about inclusion of your software in KDE, does it really matter if it is included as long as your license if followed? For example many libraries which have no relation to Qt but are needed by KDE apps are included in kdesupport, everything there is fine and legal. Nothing to worry or get upset about.

On to some less sensitive news Mozilla is progressing nicely, the latest daily builds have a new theme to try out: Classic. Very nice.

Later.

ps: these are my own opinions, I do not know what if any response the KDE team will give to this issue.

I have begun playing with numerous things and the one that intrigues me the most is the new MSN software from MS. Unlike previous versions you can keep your isp and still use the service.

I believe that this is where Netscape 6 should be headed, at least for newbies. AOL/NS are you listening? The program is simply a skin that does what the previous button scheme NS has done in the past right. If any of my friends were logged into MS Messenger i could simply drop down the icon and send a message, checking my mail is a simple click since i logged on when i first started the app. And the sincher is that i can watch movies in the sidebar, only media player ones, but movies none the lesss. Its aimed at newbies but i like it too!

With that said and done i am convinced that we could do something similar, with equal power and expressiveness.

GO MOZILLA!

School Part-deux

I officially graduate from HS today, and lucky me I get to MC it. It is truly amazing that time flies by so fast, or maybe that is just because we are always looking forward to something else and never content with what is at our fingertips.

Hacking

First ive noticed that this place has become a regular hangout for all those mozilla.org developers. Its cool to see scc, shaver, blizzard, pav, and everyone else here.
Anywho with all my free time I going to spend some time hacking mozilla some more and learning some more stuff. My interest now seems to be floating towards graphics and the like but we will have to see. Next up Java, I got the the IBM 1.3 jdk and need to work it out. I was thinking of experimenting with someother distros and os's anyone have any suggestions? It all goes along with my reading of the white paper on systems research. contact me at sammy@fuzed.com

See yall!

School

I made up my mind on where I am going to school.... Harvard. Yeah it was a difficult decision and I wont go into the bloody details but there I made. it.

Software

KDE 1.90 was released, it rocks. Ive been using the cvs for quite a while now, and this is something to really look forward to. I found a small project to work on in my limited spare time. Its called Noatun, watch out, this media player is going to kick ass.
On the mozilla front, ive not really kept up with much for some strange reason. Feature complete status is supposed to come around 5/16, at least for the NS branded version. I dont really understand all the details but.....

Until next time.

New day. I love vacation time. Ive had some good chats with some of the core KDE developers over the last two days and have gotten KDE and Mozilla up and running.

This Rocks!

Need based financial aid only is not a good thing no matter how good it sounds on the surface!

Hmm been a while. I experienced a few issues with my Voodoo 3. DONT put it on the last pci slot, power sucks down there causing all sorts of icky things.

I got RH 6.2 installed so i can resume my previous work, you know, KDE and Mozilla. Gotta go.

A new day. I have layed low of Mozilla for the past week taking a "sabatical" :-). I got a new Voodoo 3 2000 pci card, it caused some weirdness but whatever. I need to reinstall linux cause windows is beginning to comfort my user side.
In other news i am trying to decide which college to attend.

  1. Harvard
  2. Notre Dame
  3. Washinton and Lee
It is a very big decision.

Till next time.

Well i got an account, cool eh? Seems as if everyone who is anyone has one so I thought i would get one as well. Just a little background I am a part-time mozilla developer and self proclaimed big mouth for KDE :-).

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
