Yosemite

I went to Yosemite this weekend. I got some pretty good pictures. Nothing to really report from the weekend, I got up insanely early and hiked around the park.

Work wise, I'm have a good time. I'm working on The Google Summer of Code again.

I have nothing to say, but I do have pretty pictures

An update

I'm way out in the middle of nowhere. I'm just here until the end of the month to see my girlfriend, then I'll be going to going back to Cali.

Before I got out here, I exchanged a large pile of cash for a new uber sexy MacBook Pro. My word this is a fancy beast, I have the low-end Macbook pro right now I have the standard 512M of RAM but I'll must likely up that when I get to Cali. I'm still working on hacking up the front row remote to make it more functional (though I must say front row is pretty cool, but I would love to be able to use VLC to view videos instead of QuickTime). Right now I'm using iRed lite, which seems to be working pretty good, but I need to get better at apple script to really start hacking it.

It's a bad picture of me

Me at OSCON
That's me with the weird looking half smile.

That was taken while I was at OSCON. Which was a hella good time. I went to a see a bunch of good presentation, and hung out with lots of googlers and other fun people. I would like to stop the rumors right now, I can neither confirm nor deny that Nat humped my leg.

In terms of interesting topics, Karl Fogel really got my attention. Basically he questions if we need copyright. He hasn't convinced me that we don't, but he has at least convinced me that I need to start looking in to it more.

Oh, and in case you missed it (ie you live under a rock, on mars, with your fingers in your ears), Google Project Hosting has been released. It's a little buggy right now, but it soon will be awesome.

In general OSCON rocked, I meet a ton of interesting people and had a great time.

All Hail Open Source.

Sarah Silverman: The Review is Magic

I just watched the commentary on Jesus is Magic. All I have to say is the commentary is 100 times better then the movie. On my first viewing of the movie, I was kinda unpressed. This might be because I already knew most (if not all) of the jokes in the movie. But the commentary and other bonus features totally make the movie.

[Interesting point, in the commentary sarah points out that she messed up one of my favorite jokes (which I noticed and was upset about)]

W00t to new Sarah Silverman material.

Ray Tracer

Also, I finished my ray tracer. If you want to see what I've been doing you can look at my Gallery, I also made some movies which you can find here.

Google Calendar Update

Sweet deal, I'm not sure when it happened but Google Calendar has been updated. They added a simple HTML version of the Calendars. (It's in the list of export types, ie Settings -> Calendars -> (the Calendar you want to see in HTML) -> Calendar Address: HTML button)

Here is an example using The Google Summer of Code Calendar

Now all I need is the ability to have a 4 month view.

Ok, this is my first post with my new crazy cross posting python program. (I really need a name for this thing). This in theory will show up in both my advogato and LiveJournal accounts. Now all I need to do is get the program to automatically take out tags that LJ lets me use but advogato doesn't.

But here comes the sun... I guess that means it's bed time

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.

Keep up with the latest Advogato features by reading the Advogato status blog.
