Looks like I've finished most features Geek Credit (p2p complementary currency) reference code must have.
Now the remaining problems are mostly non technical. I released 2 commercial products already and did few contributions to open source projects, but I did not have an experience of answering open source project design/marketing questions like
2 major questions to address now:
- I received a lot of letters like "Great idea, will catch on when everybody will use that."
Sure it is good idea when it is popular. But how to find early adopters/other developers/designers/architects now? The feedback from offline complementary communities is good, but they do not know what GnuPG and Python is, and I won't have a software that aunt Tilly will use before existing system won't become mature. So it's a chicken and egg problem without even the possibility to be backward compatible, as the product is completely new. Hope 2 similar projects that will be released soon will help somehow.
- The command line is fine and valuable for scripting, but I need better GUI than TKInter I have right now. Which user interface framework to choose? I think I will write the GUI as a Mozilla extension.
