Junkyard Wars rules! Last week's mileage marathon was the Best Episode Ever (I have a big crush on Bowser) but last night we watched three episodes from the US season, and saw the Long Brothers, those sweet Pennsylvanian farmboys, crush and annihilate all who opposed them - up to and including mighty roboteer Kal Spelletich, who I had no idea looked so much like Ben Affleck, and if I had I would have flirted way more when I interviewed him that time.

It's perfect television: complex characters, high stakes, an invariably glorious narrative arc. Peter Christy's daughter advances a compelling theory that in order to win JyW, your team must suffer. The land yacht episode, in which a team inadvertently set fire to its own sail, is a standout in this respect, but they are all gems, every one.

In other news, Telsa's Guadec coverage cracked me up, while Jeremy "accidently" destroyed one of his villages by raining fire upon it. His hand is a gnarled red claw. I am married to a Dark God.
