First solo flight! It's a strange notion, being by yourself in an airplane that's actually flying.

Fortunately the traditional bucket of water over the head did not follow, as it was about -12C in Ottawa today, and I would have had to have been taken to the hospital for thawing.

dyork: Yep, that's the place -- a little far from home in New Edinburgh, but it's a living. Having the Cock and Bull next door comes in handy sometimes.

BTW, congratulations on taking French lessons! I did that this spring too. I was born and bred in southwestern Ontario, where I was a lot more likely to hear Dutch than French. So while I took French in school for years, I never got to use it -- until I got here, and figured I'd better brush up. Bonne chance!

dyork, zeevon: there are an awful lot of us Ottawans here, aren't there? Seems the numbers are growing.

ottawaDave: curious to see what you do with the Ottawa Python Authors Group. I've been hacking Python for a while now, and use it lots with my current gig. I'd be curious to see what else people are doing with it.

hacking: a quick parser for a small subset of Oracle DDL SQL using a great parser generator. Good fun. Now, to think more deeply about the various issues with modelling data for RDBMS storage, and modelling it for XML storage...

Don't think about this too much before trying to go to sleep. Makes for weird dreams...

Woo! Nothing like a foot of freshly-fallen snow to make one feel Canadian! I'm sure I left my car in front of the house, but I don't see it...

Wrapping up a DocBook SGML -> HTML translation project. Definitely ready to move on to the next thing...
