I never tortured anyone

John Kiriakou: I never tortured anyone, ordered torture, or destroyed the videotapes of it, and I'm certainly not on a book tour glorifying it. http://bit.ly/Vu1Cki

CISPA is Back

Friends,

Did you hear that CISPA is back? The misguided, anti-privacy bill -- defeated last year by a huge public outcry -- has been reintroduced in Congress.

The new version of the bill would allow private companies to share our personal data with the government, other companies, and private agencies like the MPAA. Click here to join me in standing up to this assault on internet privacy:

http://act.demandprogress.org/letter/cispa_is_back/?referring_akid=2011.45919...

They don't need a warrant, and companies who share your information are given immunity from all pre-existing privacy laws!

No wonder companies like AT&T and Verizon have already signed on in support. Click here to tell congress NO to CISPA: http://act.demandprogress.org/letter/cispa_is_back/?referring_akid=2011.45919...

Supporters of CISPA -- like its sponsor Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger -- have said they can't see any reason why businesses needed to hide your personal data from the government.

They don't get it. Like last time, we need to take a stand against violations of our basic rights to privacy. Please join me in calling on Congress to oppose CISPA: http://act.demandprogress.org/letter/cispa_is_back/?referring_akid=2011.45919...

Tell President Obama: Don't appoint this #fracking guy

Dear Friend,

President Obama keeps saying we need to confront climate change.

So why is he considering appointing a major proponent of fracking to lead
the Department of Energy?

According to Reuters, President Obama is seriuosly considering appointing
Dr. Ernest Moniz - the director of MIT's Big Oil-sponsored Energy
Institute and a big believer in expanding toxic, climate-heating gas
fracking.

At a time when the last thing we should be doing is undermining our
progress against climate change, Moniz is the wrong choice to head one of
the most important agencies in the fight for a sustainable energy future.

Sign the petition to President Obama now:

Tell the FDA: Just say NO to GE salmon

Hi,

Right now, the FDA is in a mad dash to approve the sale of genetically engineered (GE) salmon – an untested, unlabeled and potentially unsafe food into our food supply.

Our goal: flood the FDA with 50,000 comments asking them to REJECT THIS FRANKENFISH. But we only have until April 26th — their deadline for public comments on this topic — to reach it.

Fill out the form below to submit your comment asking the FDA to say NO to GE salmon today.

That's why I signed a petition to Margaret Hamburg, Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration.

Will you sign this petition? Click here:

Thanks!

Protect Izembek National Wildlife Refuge!

Last week, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service  indicated that it will deny a request to build a road through remote wilderness areas of Alaska’s Izembek National Wildlife Refuge.

This decision now goes to the Secretary of the Interior to be finalized. Tell Secretary Salazar to stand behind the Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision , and urge him to finalize and adopt the agency’s decision to deny this proposed road.http://dfnd.us/VQfD93
