Obama: stop the #tarsands! - #nokxl #keystonexl #kxlblockade

I've had it with the media blackout! Stop sacrificing our climate on the election alter! Stop the pipeline!

Oil companies want to build a huge pipeline from Canada to Texas to open up new markets for tar-sand oil, the dirtiest fossil fuel on earth. But Obama could refuse the permit -- and a wave of protests are trying to convince him to do the right thing. Sign the petition, and demonstrators will bring it to the White House on Saturday:

Here are more action items.

The petition makes a fascinating point. #KeystoneXL is not in the public benefit, so that eminent domain was abused. #nokxl #kxlblockade

Tell Congress What the U.S. Ambassador Acknowledged on Drone Strikes

Until recently, U.S. officials have largely refused to engage, publicly and on the record, on specific criticisms of U.S. drone strike policy in Pakistan. But now, Acting U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Hoagland has gone on the record to defend the details of U.S. drone strike policy in a meeting with Just Foreign Policy and other U.S. peace delegates in Pakistan.

Urge your representatives in Congress to follow up on what has been acknowledged, like the fact that the U.S. could compensate civilian drone strike victims and their families.

Thanks!

Halliburton lost what?

Dear Friend,

Unbelievable. For nearly a month, Halliburton lost a radioactive rod
used in the process of fracking wells in Texas after it apparently
just fell off a truck. That's right. Fell. Off. A. Truck.

What will it take for major corporations like Halliburton to stop
treating our safety like it was just a speed bump along their way to
obscene profits from fracking?

It will take levying major fines on a corporation, when it makes
reckless, unbelievable mistakes.

Tell the Nuclear Regulatory Commission: Hold Halliburton accountable
for its carelessness with radioactive material.

#JillStein.org: 20 million dollars. - #GreenParty

Dear Michael L.,

We've been busy . . . Federal matching funds in the primary. Check! . . . Get on nearly 9 out of 10 ballots. Check!

1_-3_-5_.pngOur biggest task is still ahead: Get 5% of the vote and unleash $20,000,000 for the Green Party’s 2016 presidential campaign. To stay on track for 5%, we must match our fundraising from the primary season by raising $500,000.

Can you pitch in $5?

jill-stein-thermometer.pngEvery dollar wins us more votes by increasing our media outreach and hiring more organizers to work on the ground in local communities. A win of 1% of the vote puts us firmly on the political map. A showing of 3% sends the message to any administration that serious momentum mounts for the Green New Deal.

Winning 5% of the vote immediately translates to $20 million dollars in federal funding for our 2016 presidential bid.

Can you help by contributing today?

Thank you,

Jill Stein

Walmart workers at various stores around the country are on strike today, protesting poor working conditions and alleged retaliation for their attempts to organize.

The one-day strike was expected to culminate in a mass rally outside a store in Pico Rivera, Calif., this afternoon.

OUR Walmart, a coalition of Walmart workers and other sympathizers, organized the protest.

Expanding the Debate Exclusive: Third Party Candidates Break the Sound Barri...

via Democracy Now! by mail@democracynow.org (Democracy Now!) on 10/4/12

Presidential_debate_2012_expanded_2

As President Obama and Mitt Romney squared off for the first time on Wednesday night, Democracy Now! broke the sound barrier by pausing Obama and Romney’s answers to get real-time responses from candidates Jill Stein of the Green Party and Rocky Anderson of the Justice Party. Stein and Anderson joined Democracy Now! for a live special just miles away from the Obama-Romney contest at the University of Denver. Many Obama supporters have expressed surprise that Romney was able to put the president on the defensive, while Obama failed to mention several of Romney’s potential weak spots, including including his record at the private equity firm Bain Capital, his vast personal wealth and offshore investments, and his recent remark that 47 percent of Americans are government dependents. Today, highlights from our "Expanding the Debate" special with the voices of all four candidates, showcasing the broadened perspectives on the critical issues beyond the Democratic-Republican political spectrum.
