Wore my 'got DeCSS?' Tshirt that I received in the mail today at the coffehouse I frequent, 'New Moon.' Turned out to be a good conversation starter. Nontechie types now know what DeCSS is and why 2600 is being sued. Some of them have even heard of Linux. Some had thought that DeCSS and Napster were somehow related. Lot of confusion in the general public perception.
A friend of mine, a musician of sorts, argued over Napster earlier in the week. I was advocating for napster, he against. Of the two of us, he is the only one with 'bootleg' tapes. All the mp3s i have are legally downloaded from mp3.com, or ripped from my own CDs. Go figure. Also note he doesn't have a computer, but appreciated my explaination of how Napster worked. We've agreed to disagree on Napster :-)
