Seems that we're beginning the process to begin releasing some prerelease Mason packages. I have created a few nice looking Trees using the LSystem Python script for Blender. I need to fine tune the trees a bit so they'll look good in uclient (our isometric client). ZephA thinks he has the map problem solved where maps created in Frost Map Editor wouldn't load properly in Uclient. Perhaps I'll mess around with that some today.

I was able to view a custom created map (using Alriddoch's map_gen.py script) using an unofficial build http://gfire.mine.nu/mist/ of a new WF Java client called Mist. This is the first time I've been able to view a custom map in a WF client. This means I'll now be able to test isometric tiles that I create (yay!) for WF's iso clients. I'm hoping that I get some time to work with the golgotha textures to create a new stash of high quality tiles for use in our isometric clients. It shouldn't take much time as I already have all the ground work laid (masks created etc.).

The media web site on worldforge.org is really starting to shape up at:

One last big push and I should be able to get it all done. It will feel good to have a respectable site up again.

People are starting to complain about the irregularities caused by some of our older artwork. This artwork doesn't make use of alpha channels and relies on some of uclient's oddities ie black bg=transparent and pixel in the lower right hand corner=transparent. A good bit of this work is Uta's but I hope that in coming releases we'll be able to ween people off of that with new media we create. I'm hoping that after we start using the new media more and more we won't have as many problems.

Alriddoch fixed his map generation script so I need to try that out on uclient and see what it does with a new map and some test tiles.

Helped magnetHead with an introductory article that was submitted to macslash for publishing. Hopefully this will bring in a horde of Mac folk and perhaps some new artists. I need to get the web site in presentable shape.

I'm getting sick of our web site sucking mightily (esp the media section). So I've decided to do something about it. I'll be sprucing up our zope site shortly and making it presentable. I guess this also means I need to write that friggin' "Artist's Orientation" I've been wanting to get at for a while now.

Munin, who is modelling the human male study I've been doing is in the middle of moving so this gives me some time to do other things and focus on the study later.

Hmmm... my TODO list just keeps getting bigger. I need to do something about that.

Lists of things to do for media:

1) Finish generic human artwork and get more peer review
2) More experiments with iso tiles
3) Better documentation
4) More (and better) media infrastructure

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.

Keep up with the latest Advogato features by reading the Advogato status blog.

If you're a C programmer with some spare time, take a look at the mod_virgule project page and help us with one of the tasks on the ToDo list!
