Signed up for OSDEM in Brussels (February 3rd-4th 2001).
Next week I'll be working for LinPro at some site at
Frankfurt in Germany.
My flight leaves on Monday November
6th at 6:30AM from Oslo Airport.
I'm supposed to spend
five days in Frankfurt and head back to Oslo on Friday
afternoon.
20:05: Packing.
Went to a talk on Simula and the early history of object oriented programming given by Professor Ole-Johan Dahl at the University of Oslo this evening.
Simula was The First OOP language. It was invented at the Norwegian Computing Centre between 1962 and 1967by Kristen Nygård and Dahl, and was the first language taught at the Department of Informatics until last year (when they switched to Java).
By the way: The GNU Simula Compiler Cim (written by staff at the same Department) is based on C! The compiler and the run-time system was written in C, and the compiler produces C code, that is then passed to GCC.
Tip of the day (from Martin Baulig):

The man who wrote the dc2xx kernel module, is implementing PTP for jUSB.

PTP is aka. Picture Transfer Protocol (PIMA/ISO 15740 standard).
Went with Annett to Cinemateket to watch Mike Leigh's Secrets and Lies yesterday.
Met Per Kristian, Audun and Sigurd from PING (the University LUG), at the UIO campus bazaar. They are handing out CDs with GNU/Linux and Helix GNOME to freshmen. Quite a lot CDs have already been passed out to C.S. freshmen attending classes. We decided to be present at the campus on Friday with more blatant free software propaganda. :)
Attended physics class today. I'm considering switching major from computer science to physics. I approached the Department of Informatics with different goals and experience, when I started in 1998.
Pulled the 38 images from Tryvann off the camera (a Kodak DC280Z).
New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
