I have just submitted a Python Enhancement Proposal on exposing the loop counter in for-loops. Hope this can convince the BDFL.

I spent the weekend advocating Python and visiting the old mine town Roeros (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage) instead of doing something useful. And I'll have to start working on my research project again this week. Wonder if I get around to fix some bugs.

An observation: Branching of an unstable version months old can yield problems. Patches that have been commited just after the branch to correct the effects of other patches committed just before may have to be recommited. It is difficult to see where this is neccessary, though.

This is (obviously) my first diary entry.
Today I came back from a journey through the most beautiful parts of Norway just to find >500 mails waiting in my Inbox. I have spent the last 6 to 7 seven hours reading up on pyhton-list and python-dev.
But being away from the Python sources also had some positive effects. I got some new ideas. Right now they are just ideas, but who knows ...
