Some time ago I adopted Debian freebirth package. Freebirth hasn't been mainted upstream for three years but I haven't yet found any other bass/drum sequencer with similar sound so I wanted to keep it alive. It's also a good C exercise for me to fix the bugs it has.

Actually, there was a segmentation fault bug already. It took some time, but I got it fixed. Freebirth segfaults if initial sample files don't have full path in the source (freebirth.c). Debian-patched Freebirth has it that way. There's a patch available. This will also be included in the next revision of the package.

Oh, I should write that review of Koodi vapaaksi (Free the Code) by Tere Vadén and Richard Stallman. The book is in Finnish and so will be the review. The book containts Vadén translation of "Why software should be free", an interview with Stallman and Vadén's foreword on the philosophy of technology and free software.
