advogato

Iain seems to have taken the Billennium rather too seriously ... I suggest rapid infusion of decaffienated products, stat!

Interestingly, mirwin - they of the war- and-peace-have-nothing-on-me diary entries appears to also be using idot as another advogato account ... "I am having a little trouble getting my web sites up so I am going to certify this account from mirwin and put some concise draft notes here regarding open entrepreneurialism" - err, isn't this a tad ... cheeky?

smoothwall

More website updates today, need to start thinking about the redesign dang and i have planned for next weekend.

Fell asleep in front of Gran Turismo 3 A-spec again :)
smoothwall
Upon waking up, my brain decided it was in web mode, and I've been updating the SmoothWall website for the last few hours!
mirwin
yes, yes, mirwin appears to be getting on peoples mammaries ... one of the chief complaints is the length of his diary entries, and the detrimental effect this is having on the recentlog - perhaps if a diary entry goes over a set length, it can do a google style break after so many bytes, and present the direct link to the full diary entry? Hmmm ... just a thought.

Now that the msgid.net site is up and running, I need to migrate the backend code to something nice and perly. Once I've done that, I'll look at opening up the source to let others think about what can be done with it. Anyone have any cool thoughts?

Oh, and I forgot to enable the domain for email when I set up the site on my colo host - that's fixed now, so feel free to email ideas(at-sign)msgid.net

slef: just to respond to your SmoothWall comments, we've finally managed to bung out the source for the beta (I told you we were just busy with other things!), and we've had confirmation that with modifications to the web site, they're fully happy with what's been going on.

Go read the article by rmorrell for much more info.

looks liks the whois on msgid.net went through last night - lovely :) I'll wait until tomorrow i think before I start telling any sizable amount of people (outside advogato) about it.

With the 0.9.9 release still scheduled for Saturday, the SmoothWall team is beginning to brainstorm about 1.0. There's some good ideas being knocked out, and we're gonna try and get folk together for an f2f sesh soon, preferably with some budweiser budvar!

in referencing a specific article on Google Groups today, I got irritated by the URL including the message ID wrapping. So I registered and built msgid.net (it'll go live tomorrow). It shaves at least 20 characters off the average message ID URL. I'm quite chuffed with it.

The dev URL is available if you want to play with it today. [2001-08-29: it's live now - no need for dev URL anymore]

Richard emailed the team from a field (I kid you not) and has put 0.9.9 back to the 1st September, so we can properly integrate the last languages, and also so we don't release on a bank holiday!

fixes2 and fixes3 are out the door. A hell of a lot of bugs have been cleared - looks like 0.9.9 release should go fine for next week.

heh fixes2 will probably be tonight (15th), not tonight (14th) ... if you see what I mean!
