I'll be changing
jobs, in a few weeks, which will hopefully give me
enough time to work on my project, and contribute to others.
What is it about?
Well the idea is to have a program to parse the logs, for specific data, usually security related, then a nice formated report is given, so what is interesting about that? Well the admin will be able to use the program to monitor the whole network and receive a report detailing the findings, or he might just configure it to collect the info and send it to a central server for backup or whatever.
The program is being coded in Perl, we are using a modular design so that a person with Perl knowledge, will be able to either use the individual modules or hack the program how he see fit.
The boss is driving me up the wall with all the W2k vs Linux thing, i just sit there and nod, yeah yeah whatever is me who stay's late working not him, still the whole development team uses linux and there is nothing he can do about it (well he could fire us all, that would be nice.) The security suite is on hold and possibly will go to bit heaven oh well.. Been Learning Python got to addmit is a nice language, i prefer Perl though.
Been working on a project that is,.. not totally defined, what is certain is that we'll make an application to aid in the writting and organizing of docs for linux, the app is aimed to help newbies but also it will be usefull fo the more experienced users there is a site up at: http://www.ocelot.dyn.dhs.org.
That's it for today back to hacking.
FOAF updates: Trust rankings are now exported, making the data available to other users and websites. An external FOAF URI has been added, allowing users to link to an additional FOAF file.
