Back to OS with LimeSurvey.org

Finally I am here again to announce that I am again working
in open source field. This time with working on a surveyor
application named LimeSurvey.
These days I was busy translating (70% translated by now)
and doing some patches to make LimeSurvey support
translation better.
Soon I have to work on the admin templates and some RTL
bugs too (except the RTL bug related to FireFox :D)

Open Source ATM

These days I have refered a lot of time to Iranian Banks'
ATMs. Their UI is teribble. (I don't know enough about
their engine ...)
Some images should be changed, some texts should be
replaced, some working flow should be fixed, ...
I think the developers doesn't know enough about UI design
and their customer needs. So the only remaining option
is Open Source ATM. If one of
those applications for ATM, was open source, then every one
(me too) could go and fix these terrible bugs in them.
Today I saw an image of "United States Dollars" while the
ATM gave me "I.R. IRAN Rials" ... GOD Bless
Them ;)

Working on GCompris

These days I am working on localization and customization
of Free Educational Software
GCompris. It is a
great open source application for kids under 10 (and higher
2). It has at least 50 games for children (from add 2
number, to chess against the computer) ...
The code was nice, but sometimes non-English comments and
codes made me sick! The function names and variables of
some games
were all in another language. Think of that! How should I
read that amazing source code :D
Anyway, it is near the end and I will finish my work in
this week... I hope the developer don't
continue coding like this ;)

Finally, our Persian forum started and now it is working on support.shariflinux.com/forum.
If you are a Sharif Linux Club Member, you can signup for all the online services at Sharif Linux Club and use the forum.
Phorum 5: Persian Translation, Localization and Customization

With the help of Elnaz Sarbar and Meelad Zakaria, Phorum 5 translated and customized.
Two major problem about doing this:

Making the forum RTL. It has not this feature in it! Designed as to be LTR always!!!

Making it to work with both Firefox and IE. As some of our users is going to use the forum in Firefox (We shipped Firefox 1 in Sharif Linux 2) and Firefox has some problems with RTL support...

Fedora & Forum

It is so wonderful that you can find any large or small packages in fedora extras, but there is not any package for forum in Fedora Extras Repository!!!
May be I have to go and work on it. A Fedora Server should have a forum application on it. (It is only my oponion!) I think a suitable choice to add to fedora extras repository is Phorum. But first of all, I should check it with a master like Roozbeh ....

Flash Animation (Animator vs. Animation)

One of my friends has sent me an email with a link in it. The title of the page is "Animator vs. Animation". It is a great Macromedia Flash animation which was made by a creative creator, Alan Becker. I invite all of you to check this Flash Animation.
It seems that the original URL is http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/animator
and also there is some information about the animation and the creator in http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/ ("Catchy" posted on June 23, 2006 & "Mochibotted for her protection" posted on June 8, 2006)

Bad Exam

It is so bad when we see that in M.Sc. courses of an engineering major we should just save some words and sentences in memory and nothing more, the same as they are in books, and answer them on exam. No analysis!!!
It is why I am going to fail this course!!! Maybe my mind works fine for analytical studies, but it will fails to save just some words and sentences!!!
The prof only played with words in this course. Vision, Mision, Goal, Startegy, Marketing, ...
The only thing that he said during this course was: In Internet Marketing we have a new philosophy. Internet is not like a fax. If we use fax machine for our marketing, nothing is changed. But if we use Internet, all the things should be changed. It needs a diffrent strategy. and nothing more :(

Fifa Worldcup 2006, Iran

Some minutes ago, while I was checking the photos of Iran vs. Mexico match in Fifa World Cup site, I found some photos certainly taken in Iran (maybe Tehran) but signed as "Nuremberg, Germany"!!!
For those who are Persian or a little familiar with Iran:

http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/match/7/photos.html?i=29&d=1

http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/match/7/photos.html?i=47&d=1

Also, I think this was taken in Iran too (maybe in a dormitory):

http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/match/7/photos.html?i=20&d=1

Update: As the programmer was a little stupid, as all the programmers are, and doesn't know anything about what the users wants from their site, as all the programmers are, the photos haven't any fixed page. The URL of the page containing the photo changes; if they add (remove) any photo to (from) the list, the URL of the page containing the phot will change :D
So you can check the gallery page and find these photos (fortunately the image URLs are fixed!!!):
