Messing around with ripping in RedHat 8.0. Been using Debian, but got tired of trying to create a install CD that uses Woody, OpenOffice and KDE 3.0.3. PGI is the way to go, but those folks seem busy getting detect 2.0 out, so I moved on. I only have a dial-up connection, so keeping a local Woody deb archive current seemed like a bit of a stretch.

Anyway, I like Psyche. The screen looks great, and it's nice having all the archives on a CD for quick install.

  • the menu structure sucks! I need to figure out how to write a script that will reorganize it so I like it.
  • the gnome preferences are a bit annoying for a kde user. it's easy to switch them, but the ads for ximian, evolution and their file manager during the install are a bit annoying

I'm working on getting hayes playlist working with noatun now. Having music ripped to the hard drive is something that I've been looking forward to.
