This is a test entry. I'm tracking down a problem with NewsBruiser's Advogato import.
Okay, all done. Disregard this entry now.

Notes:
I'm best known as an author. I wrote RESTful Web Services with Sam Ruby, and the Ruby Cookbook with Lucas Carlson.
I wrote Newsbruiser, an easy-to-use weblog system; Beautiful Soup, the ultra-liberal HTML/XML screen-scraping parser; and The Ultra Gleeper, a recommendation engine for web pages which is unfortunately not easy to use at all. I've also written a couple works of interactive fiction and a jillion other pieces of software, including the original robotfindskitten.
I was once a senior software engineer at CollabNet, and a software architect at the Wesley Clark 2004 presidential campaign.
I live in New York and I like long walks through Python and Ruby code.

Hot damn! After a year of inability to access my account due to a forgotten password, I'm back on the air. A lot has happened in the past year; I've changed my personal information to reflect it. Thanks to Raph Levien for helping me out.
Just set up my advogato account. I already have a journal on my homepage; go there if for some reason you care about what I have to say.

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
