The word "lightening" means a lot more to me after the bolt that took out most of the gear in my house. Phones, power supplies, ethernet ports. Lots of little things don't work anymore -- like 5 out of 7 of the room light dimmers.

I'm putting it all back on-line. And I'm happy I keep backups of all my hosts. If you have not saved your Best Bits recently you should burn a CD right now.

After a week of camping.

I thought I was ready to push out new versions of all the tools I support. Sadly, tasks around the home are taking up way too much time, and I found a key issue I need to resolve in each of 2 base packages.

The talk about C++ depends being time consuming freaks me out: when it takes 6 minutes to build world on a modern computer, who cares about recompiling a few source files? If it makes you happy build lots of libraries, and load against them.

I want to be Certified so I can post articles.

I have a lot of stuff to post over the next 3 weeks, and I was hoping to avoid killing my cable modem by posting some of it here.
