Talk about a week. Has anyone else had the problem of keeping recruiters straight? I've had so many call me this week I can't keep track of them. I hung up the phone a few minutes ago and thought to myself, "That lady wants me to call her back if this other group doesn't call in 2 days, but I don't know who she is!"

Well I do know she is from Oracle Corp. or at least one of the offices. The other trouble is my resume is being offered by recruiters to at least 5 different divisions of Oracle. Which may bring about a most ludicrous bidding war between divisions (well, okay, I am hoping for that to happen). I am trying to get myself involved in OSS as much as possible right now for several reasons: 1) I believe in it; 2) I've taken advantage of many OSS packages and it's time to give back; 3) I think I have the aptitude, at this point in my career, to contribute something valuable and not embarrass myself (I guess we will see about that third point).

At any rate, my impending lay-off is consuming much of my time and will continue to do so until I have a new contract in hand. But, I refuse to spend more than six hours a day on that. I will be devoting two hours a day, early on, to open source and another four hours a day on my current pet project building a MUD. I've got some details on the trials and tribulations at my home page and I am trying desperately to get it to the point where contributors can build using the OLC. At that point I will let it slide for a few months and devote the majority of my spare time to oss.
