Since our hero last left you...

Tara came to visit last weekend (for 5 days actually). Saw Traffic (good movie), as well. Strangely my roow is now clean as well.

Assorted chess playing in Harvard Square. I seem to be getting into chess again.

Released gnome-chess 0.3.0. Should have another minor release out soon.

Some soup hacking, got evolution snapshots building again.

Played with using soup to contact sites listed at <a href="http://www.xmethods.com/". Was fairly successful.

Other new movies watched include Shrek (very entertaining) and This is Spinal Tap (excellent parody).

Freshly returned from Toronto. Eating, drinking and conversation. An excellent trip all round. The gf was not happy to see me go.

Got a bit more gnome-chess hacking done on the plane and started reading 1984 which I have not yet read. The idea of NewSpeak in order to remove "impure" thought is an interesting one.

Ground out the week to its unspectacular conclusion. Just a bunch of general hacking. Doing a lot on gnome-chess because I really want to get a new release out soon.

Visited an MIT party on friday and went to bed 3 hours before I got up to got with taylor to poker at foxwoods. Didn't do so well in the tournament but really made up for it in the 5/10 game afterward.

Going back to Canada to visit gf, parents and friends this weekend. I sense alcohol.

So a lot has happened. Had a part on March 31 for mtgordon's birthday.

Then I left for Linux Expo in Madrid, the talk is online here. Hopefully it translated ok from spanish to english. Excellent group of free software people in spain - i think i barely had a meal under 2 hours the whole time.

From there to Copenhagen for GUADEC. Where I gave another talk with campd. Excellent get together. Went to Christiana free town, a strange hippy enclave in Copenhagen that is fairly autonomous.

Back to the grind.

Ok, so today was the big day at the New England Poker Classic. 493 entries, about twice as many as I thought there would be. Played tough but missed some cards and got stuck badly in a hand with KQs which basically ended my day in between 200th and 220th. So-so at best.

Working on the purify box this week at work so we can pound away at evo. Chasing some pilot syncing bugs.

Leaving for madrid on monday. Then onward to the great guadec.

Gotta figure what to do for Easter.

Started trying to get ready for my talks at guadec and linux expo madrid.

Watched two movies sitting on the couch today, American History X and Silence of the Lambs. Went to a nice party with rachel and campd.

More gIDE related hacking - trying to get project modification working. Hacking away on evo as usual.

Busy ten days.

Girlfriend Tara and sister Tina came visiting last week as did my friend Mel. Went to a Bruins game Thursday. Aqarium and a lot of walking on Friday. Saturday was St. Patrick's Day and shockingly I went out drinking.

Poker last night, made a decent profit. Only a week to the New England Poker Classic.

More evolution hacking. Little bits on gIDE. Must put together presentations for Linux Expo Madrid (Evolution) and GUADEC (gIDE) very soon. Don't want to look like an idiot.

Took Friday off because my brother came to town on Wednesday afternoon. Went to Drinking Culture on Wednesday. Small but enthusiastic turnout this week. Watched some movies on Thursday. Friday wandered around town and picked up some CD's. A little Thoroughgood, a little Rob Zombie and some Coltrane which my brother deemed a "seminal jazz album". If you can't believe a jazz music major who can you believe?

Brother took off on Saturday and I hit the Foxwood's Poker Tournament. Finished 6th out of 112 and made some money. Big tourney in two weeks.

Lots of random evolution hacking this week. A little gnome-build hacking. Trying to do some current target stuff for hooking up gnome-debug.

Great weekend of gIDE/gnome-build/gnome-debug/gdl hacking. We have a control that provides a build info control and you can click on errors and such to jump to files and line numbers. Got syntax hilighting going for a few more mime types and campd is tidying up some debug issues. Mark Benvenuto has started sending us patches, hooray!

Not a lot else happened. A lot more people left, ettore, notzed and federico freed up our couch.

Watched a bunch of movies this weekend, The Prophecy, Southpark, Lethal Weapon, Conspiracy Theory - couch hacking is a good thing.

There was a distinct lack of beer this weekend, but excellent Japanese food. Turns out I might like sushi after all.

My brother will probably swing by for a few days this week. More visitors next week.

The end of recent gnome-pilot hacking is near. A couple little bits of tidying and then back to evolution.

Jimmac made some nice gIDE icons.

Drinking culture was ok, but lots of fun people are now gone. Sigh.

Woohoo, got to start planning my attack on the New England Poker Classic. Going to try and play in one limit and one no limit event. Mmmm. No Limit. See Rounders.
