Got my laptop through from Dell. Ahhh it is nice. I have got Debian on there now and it is all running pretty smooth. KDE3 is on and mostly fine apart from some CVS bugs.

An interesting announcement was out today about Hancom and Korea making an agreement. I am sorting some things out to get a feature on this on KDE::Enterprise.

Anyway, it is 6am and time for bed.

Seeya soon!

Quick update here today as I have go off home.

I added a new section called Focus On ... on KDE::Enterprise. I also added a business case directory for KDE supporting companies.

OK, gotta run...seeya!

today I refined a few more parts of the KDE::Enterprise Forum and posted to LinuxToday with an announcement. An announcement of the forum also appeared on the dot as well as well as announcement of my plans for the KDE Booth at the Linux Expo Birmingham. Today I also added another interview to KDE::Enterprise.

I saw today that Ivan Moore has stepped down as Debian KDE package maintainer. His work was both thorough and well recieved - I wish him well and his replacement maintainer.

Oh well, LUG meeting tonight. :) More fun and games with the nutters and I will seeya tomorrow.

Seeya soon!

OK, busy busy busy. :)

I just found out today that I am going on holiday to Florida with my familiy this year. It will be fscking great. :)

Great news! The laptop is on it's way - I will be back Linuxing in a true fashion sooner than I thought. I can't wait.

Yesterday I released a write up of my plans for the KDE booth at the Linux Expo Birmingham. I hope to get it announced on the dot and get some help.

Today I have added a forum to KDE::Enterprise. These forums are pretty cool, and I think it will add some real value to the site. Check it out at http://enterprise.kde.org/forum/. A public announcement will be out after some testing.

Oh well, I better be off - we are auditioning a drummer tonight for the band - fingers crossed!

Seeya all later!

I started sorting KDE3.0 out on my temporary Linux box (the one I am using until the broken laptop is replaced), and I started checking out the various modules. While this was going on I decided to get the box set up to sort out and update enterprise.kde.org.

I got apache and php4 installed and sorted out my httpd.conf to point to my enterprise.kde.org CVS module on my hard disk. I then mailed Bero to change the passwords and I was away.

I did some small updated tonight which included an article called The deployment dilemma, a new events section, some fixed typos and some other things. I also fixed up the FAQ a little and added a few more questions. I plan on extending this FAQ much further. I might write some code to make adding questions easier or use a FAQomatic.

I spoke to Rob Caper (KDE hacker and author of the wonderfull Atlantik) and he may be able to participate in an interview with me. This could be quite interesting. :)

OK, kde-build is now sorting out KDE 3.0 for me and I need some sleep

Happy new year!

I hope you have all had a great 2001 and that 2002 is even better. :)

Spent today with no Linux box again (!), and went shopping. I bought a surround sound speaker setup and got quite excited with them. They were nice and cheap (£60) from PC World and were a pretty neat bargain.

I got a nice mail from a diary reader called Sammy Ford regarding my recent ramblings about getting a new laptop. Sammy informed me of how happy he is with his Toshiba laptop. Thanks for the kind words Sammy. :)

Right, I am off to bed now...seeya soon!

Heya folks...hope you had a great chrismas. Things are cool over here.

Since I have been away I have had *no* Linux box. Yep...no KDE, no Linux, no nothing...just Sooz's parents machine. I have been keeping in touch with the Linux and KDE community if I can but it has been limited. :(

I have been shopping on the net for a new laptop for the one than fscked up, and I think I am gonna go for a Dell Inspiron. Looks nice and solid and should run the penguin ok.

While I have been off I have been swotting up on C++ some more and getting to really understand OO much better. C++ FAQs by Marshall Cline and co is a truly superb book and has really helped my understanding of the language.

I met one of Sooz's programming savvy uncles the other day and he suggested the book Design Patterns as a clincher for truly getting OO. It is ordered and on it's way.

I also read Dave Jones's interview on /.. Keep up the good work Dave...and I look forward to meeting you again to compare beards at the expo in May.

It's been a fun few days. We are nearing chrismas and I write this just before I set off back home with the other half.

I installed Debian on Sooz's machine as my laptop is knackered so I could begin playing with KParts. I have been meaning to really get to grips with it for a while - I have used it before but I want to really understand it. It certainly seems a cool technology and pretty flexible.

I put Debian on her machine and put KDE 2.2.1 - after a few problems getting the right X server going I was off and waited for the lengthy dist-upgrade over modem to complete. I then got KDevelop, motor, Qt Designer and all the other fun stuff to play with. It sure is nice to run this stuff on a fast machine.

Oh well, I better be off - things to pack and then we are off.

Have a great chrismas everyone and I will seeya soon.

Well, it has been a while since my last post...and let's face it, I am not the first...but I will try and keep my diary up to date... :)

So whats been going on? Well I have been working away on some KDE stuff for a while, and all was going well until my laptop went kaput. Now I have to wait until Jan 7th for my laptop.

I have got a Zaurus from Sharp, and I am planning on doing some embedded Qtopia coding. It sure is a swanky piece of kit, and I look forward to playing with it when I get on track again with the laptop.

So, basically until the laptop arives there is no coding, web stuff or messing about with CVS code. :( Luckily though, I have got VMWare installed at work so I have got Debian going there. The trouble is that I finish work tomorrow for chrismas which is good for me but bad for hacking. If I get time over chrismas I might write some docs or something to keep me busy.

Oh well, stay tuned for the exciting updates (!) and I will try my best to keep you updated with what is going on.

Did some hacking today on enterprise.kde.org, fixed some typos ont he pages ready for release. I also hacked usability.kde.org some more, adding the new usability labs subdir for matt clark and building the image.

Had a pretty cool weekend...did virtually no Linuxy stuff as I was hanging out with my mate Alan who came up to stay. Did some jamming, listened to music, watched TV and had a good laugh as ever. :)

I am planning on finishing up usability.kde.org this week, and then cracking on with kretins. :)
