Hello everybody.

Things have been crazy the past six months or so. I have been extremly busy with work, and have not had any time to post. The fact is, I haven't had much time to do anything non work related.

Anyhow, I am in the process of planning a company wide Linux rollout (desktop and server!) I will post here as I make progress.

xlhtml

I just released xlhtml 0.5. I have really modularized the code, into several separate pieces. Now work begins in earnest to turn xlhtml into a library/application. I hope to have version 0.6 out by the end of the month.

xlhtml fixes
I fixed some bugs (memory leaks and the version display) in xlhtml, and put the fixes in CVS. I have been *VERY* busy as of late, and have not gotten as much time as I would like to work on various projects. Such is life :(

learning
I am figuring out how to use IpTables. I am also learning more and more C.

Web Site Update

I just did a major update of the Chicago developer page. I will be overhauling the xlhtml page shortly.

Excel Encryption

Well I have been doing some research, and I have found that Adobe Acrobat encrypts its files almost exactly like M$ Excel/Word do.

Details of Adobes algorithm can be found here (PDF File) in section 5.18(page 62) and section 6.13 (page 124)

I will be contacting Adobe, and asking them if I can post the info on my website.

Chicago roadmap update

I just updated the Chicago roadmap. I listed some milestones and what I want to do with each milestone. I will add more stuff later.

Chicago Site Update

I just updated the Chicago web site.

I added the following:

  • A link to some misc docs on BIFF 8
  • Some more links on the xlhtml page.

I will be adding a binary for Linux to the binary list soon.

It's official. I am now the maintainer of the xlhtml project. It's new homepage can be found at http://chicago.sf.net/xlhtml. I invite everyone to download the code and bang away on it.

xlhtml web-site update

I just updated the xlhtml web site. I added links to the batch converter script, and the XLS viewer. The batch converter script, takes all the xls files in a directory and converts them to HTML. The xls viewer is a gui frontend for xlhtml.

xlhtml takeover

It looks like I am going to complete taking over the xlhtml project today. I have created a basic web page here. Currently it is the only site on the net about xlhtml, as the main site is down.
