<a href="" 'http://jpluck.sourceforge.net/'>JPluck is dead and its author has moved its effort to <a href="" 'http://laurens.typepad.com/'>Sunrise, which is not open-source unfortunately. And it is not available for Linux. That's a shame, as JPluck was the only RSS parser for <a href="" 'http://www.plkr.org/'>Plucker.

Fortunately, a bunch of people have started a fork with the JPluck code called <a href="" 'https://opusculus.dev.java.net/'>Opusculus. There has not been any activity yet it seems, but that's good news.

So the header caching debate in Mutt is still not included upstream, but it has been included in the latest Debian package, and I must say that accessing my maildirs and IMAP folders is so much faster. Neato!

There is an interesting discussion in the Mutt community about the inclusion of the <a href="" 'http://wwwcip.informatik.uni-erlangen.de/~sithglan/mutt/'>header caching patch (see for example the thread from which <a href="" 'http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=mutt-dev&m=109284134430288&w=2'>this summary is extracted). A bunch of people went it in, but Thomas Roessler seems to be opposed to including it.

I personally would like to see it included, but more than the actual inclusion of the patch, I'm interested in seeing how this is going to be resolved. The resolution of such issues in open source projects has always been interesting to me.

This is my first diary entry. I intend to put here some thoughts about free software. We'll see if that happens or not.
