It is interesting to see how my students are adapting to the computers in my room. The most active users are boys who have been bringing in images from Dragonball Z and other cartoons which they download at home and put on floppy disks. They then put these in as their icewm backgrounds. I have shown some of them how to use the Gimp to resize the images and apply effects. I worked with one student after school trying to cut figures out of one picture and paste them into another. I couldn't quite pull it off, but we made some progress. I'd love to see some of these kids learn a bit about doing simple graphics work. This also falls under my ju-jitsu discipline strategy. I'm much happier having kids "mis-behave" by learning to use Image Magick during English class than having them running around my room driving me insane.
