So things have been quite busy in life as of late. We had a regime change at work which has had me working more then I should.

Bryan has been working on Audio support in coaster as of late. Can't wait to see it in action.

Yes, the coaster site is down. Seems when I paid the bill for the domain, the company lost it thus, making it look like I didn't pay. I am working on this and should have it back in service soon.

This is funny. I knew they sold everything on ebay. Family's can be bought and sold now.

So I seem to get a lot of mails about the dependencies of Coaster. Why do we use so current ones. It is easy guys. We are Bleeding Edge! When the stable branch comes out then we will have more sane deps. Yes this kinda limits our testing pool, but a lot of the higher deps. allows us to fix bugs in the code anyway. ...End Rant

Another release for you.

Coaster version 0.1.4 "A Load of Dingo's Kidneys" is now available for download. This release includes:

It seems that everytime I get a new piece of hardware I loose touch with the community. I recieved a DVD-RW DL for christmas, had to get that replaced because of a firmware conflict with amd64 boards, and now, new laptop harddrive.

Other reasons for being busy are easier to explain. I have been putting in a massive amount of effort at work which has drained me thus making me sleep most the day. Also, I met someone special whom I like to hang with when I am awake. So thats my excuse ;)

On that past note, the new laptop hard drive is nice. 80gig and ata100 unlike the old one. The system is a bit more responsive now and makes using it enjoyable.

Man the last week has been hell. We got over a foot of snow last wednesday and thursday and the roads are still horrible here. I went to Pittsburgh for Christmas and enjoyed the lack of snow. Christmas itself was relaxing and I look forward to New Years.

The Steelers are kicking ass and taking names, and the Buckeyes are killing Oklahoma State in the Alamo Bowl. SuperBowl...here come the Steelers!

Grapevine news is that Coaster should have a release by next week. This release should kill some dependencies that have caused headaches for some.

Happy New Year to All!!!

Things I like about Ubuntu. The fact that I can run most of the bleeding edge software in Hoary. Gnome 2.9 looks to be nice once it turns 2.10.

Speaking of Gnome 2.10, I hope that Coaster hits it's stable 0.2 branch by then. Would be a nice boost for Gnomers everywhere.

My AMD64 work is complete. The system is totally awesome. Gnome runs so smooth now. Xorg makes it even better. The ia32 chroot makes running legacy 32-bit applications a breeze. No problems thus far. The cool thing is the sata and how quick it is. All I need to do next is to compile a new kernel so that I can get DMA working on the cd drives.

Almost have the AMD64 transition done. Basically just dicking around with cedega and stuff. It took me a whole 10mins to pull everything else together. The ia32 chroot is sweet. It is running cedega and firefox (firefox with realplayer and flash) transparently in the amd64 side of things. I havn't come across a package not in the archives yet so thats awesome. I even went as far as to steal xorg from ubuntu's hoary. Mmmm...goodness thus far.

I am now on Planet arslinux, so here is a shout out to them for adding me.

Normally I work Mon-Fri, but since it is the season to be jolly, I will be putting in a soild 8 hours tomorrow. Sweet thing about it is Ill still be able to watch the Steelers in my office. Off to drink tonight as normal however.

Hell has frozen over here in columbus. While I was at work, some idiot shot and kill Dimebag Darrel of damageplan at a nightclub I had been to many a drunk time. CNN has the story.

I am now running the AMD64 version of Debian. It is fast as hell. Ill have to chroot i386 to run some binary programs, but elsewise everything else works.
