Argh... Not again. Yet another hard disk went bad. This one's decided it no longer supports UltraDMA/33. Must have been a power surge or sunspots.

In other news, the trip from the US to Niagara Falls and other parts Southern Ontario went well.

Well, my computer seems to have the standard "CND" (critical need detector) installed. Finally getting around to doing my tax return (extensions expire Aug 15), when "poof"... There went the hard drive. Lucky I had backups.

For those considering a hard drive purchase, I still recommend Maxtor (even though that's the one that broke). The web-based returns process was nice. No need to talk to phone techs and try to convince them the drive's really broken, just fill out forms, and the new drive showed up 2 days later. Very nice.

At one point the partition table had partitions overlapped, so any time I fixed one partition, the other one broke, and vice versa. ARGH... Fixed it eventually, but that was wierd. I was really happy to have that BBC...

Oh, goody... now that Mentor has purchased Veribest, and Viewlogic joined Summit to create Innoveda, Viewlogic has decided not to support Veribest's Expedition PCB on ePlanner.

Nice. Will these companies ever figure out that this in-fighting is just hurting their customers, slowing us down, and indirectly reducing their own revenue base?

Got myself a new CDRW drive. Time to try out the Bootable Business Card Linux system.
