some new people came to the linuxchix meeting tonight. they are a few of the people who redid our web site as part of their web class. they will be doing version 2 of the site over the next couple of weeks, and when they are finished, we will teach them how to use ssh on Linux to move files around between servers. right now they only use ftp to upload files, and the only OSs they are taught at their school are MacOS and Windows. as a result of doing the baylinuxchix web site for their class, they have become intereted in learning Linux. it's pretty exciting to expose these women to some free software that they otherwise might not run into.

mmmm. still good. go figure. i can't even really get too mad at my exabeast, even though one of it's drives keeps failing. the new drive i get tomorrow will be the 3rd replacement. i usually like hardware, but sometimes it can suck. josh did some work that will allow me to do more monitoring stuff in the near future. this makes me happy.

the galaga machine is still broken despite the fact that it is a P1 for my cowerker. i would normally be very upset about this, but i have been distracted by illuminati instead.

thanks nutella. now i have to go home and listen to tom waits RIGHT AWAY.

the exabyte ate tape #72. galaga is still dead at werk. i am having to learn solaris.

happy birthday to mbp and crackmonkey.

job is good. it will be even better when the galaga game is fixed. i'm learning all kinds of things that i've avoided for awhile... database stuff and hardware stuff. it's not so bad.

josh is doing very well on his installation stuff for werk. yay josh!

nutella, i vote for BOTH. it's been too long since i've been to lovejoys....

i am so glad to see that dana is here!

what about me? i am busy busy with the new job. it's fun still.

Always invite mbp to parties. You will not regret this.

In other news, schoen had a nice party on Saturday. Seth's friends are most interesting. I wish i could remember everyone's name to mention them in this diary entry, but I am rather bad with names.

New job is good.

So, dhd has given up on the Quicknet LineJack, and I have given up on Quicknet itself. Started my new job yesterday. Joy.

dhd pointed out his opinion of the Linux drivers for the Quicknet cards. your diary entry gave me a good laught today dhd, thanks! (i guess i should mention that i work at Quicknet now.)
Martin is correct, that is incredibly fucked up.

i haven't really laughed in a while. sad.
