The first time I met Ettore was during the first GUADEC in Paris 2000. We shared a room at the hotel, and talked for hours at night about various things, including a band he used to be a part of. He gave me an mp3 of the demo they had recorded, which I'm listening to right now.

The best memory I have of him is from that time. He had a habit of talking in his sleep. The first night he spoke in Italian, which I couldn't understand. But on the second night he shouted in his sleep something in English. It was something funny, and we had a big laugh about it the next morning.

Goodbye, Ettore.

The third day of GIMPcon is in progress. This has been an great event. Some of the photos I've taken can be seen at http://www.gnome.org/~drc/GIMPcon2003/.

So another Guadec is over. This years was definedly the
worst so far. The organization trouble before the confrence
really gave me a bad feeling, which turned out to be true. I
think the negative mood generated before the event itself
caused the mood at Guadec to be really low. The talks
weren't really inspireing, which I think was caused by the
low mood of the talkgivers. This was not true for all talks,
but the overall mood was bad. The organization trouble
continued throughout the whole event. It was odd that in the
evenings I felt good and had fun, but the bad atmosphere
returned the next morning. There definedly needs to be
outside monitoring on next years organizers. I agree with a
lot of people that Dublin would be a great location for
Guadec 4.

But overall the trip was great. Ate lots of good food and
had lots of great talks with people (in the evenings or
after guadec). Too bad we didn't see the sun until the last
day, and on sunday it rained ice. Ironically the weather was
excellent the day I left Sevilla.

At first I thought it was a joke. A plane smashing throught
a building just has to be a joke. Then I saw the picture.
From that point the information flood has been enourmous.

Figures. A week after I applied for a job in a firm, that
firm closed the local office. Well the former employees are
looking for a new employer as a team. So I still have some
chance of working with these people. Oh well.

Wow. Been a while since my last entry. Posted an article
asking for opineons on the Advogato redesign. So far peoples
opinions seems to go 50/50.
Guadec 2 came and went. I held a speech about gimp with
nomis. Wen't pretty nicely. The only
downside was that the UI talk was simultaneously, so I was
unable to attend. Job situation seems to be a bit unsure. So
if anyone needs something (T-Shirt, website, ..) designed on
a freelance basis, feel free to contact me. I should have my
portfolio up shortly on my homepage.

Well. Everything is fine now. Yesterday I installed debian,
then started to set the net connection to work. Of course
the .deb was broken on the disc(damn windows-ftp-program).
Today I went to school and got the working deb. Of course
after installing the deb, the "nifty" isdn config "tool"
didnt work at all, and I was forced to erase all remains of
isdnutils autoconfig and install my old isdn config files
from the old slackware installation. It worked right away.
Surprisingly there were no more problems, and I'm beginning
to install gnome/gimp/etc back. The exam which is tomorrow
doesn't help one bit.
www.gnome.org is back and so is my homepage.
Got to go study. Agh.

It's been a while since my last entry. Anyways I finally
decided to switch to Debian 2.2 from my faithfully served
Slack. It did hold up together for 3 years. The final
problem was freaking docbook, which I couldn't get to work,
and of course that damn agetty whose source I could not
find.

I recreated my homepage a few days ago, it also moved to
http://www.gnome.org/~drc/ which is kind of ironic, since
www.gnome.org started having hardware problems the next
day.

I'm also considering about putting up a portfolio for
my
web page. I'm still short on money for my new monitor, so I
need new jobs.
