Writing diary entries turns out to be a lot harder than putting ChangeLog entries together, but I promised to write one so here it comes.

Halloween: Pheww. We did it. The most frightening thing ever happened -- murrayc finally released gtkmm 2.0.0. The mere thought of keeping it ABI stable until the next major version gives me the creeps. I dearly love to scratch and rewrite code whether it works or not -- a stable ABI makes me question the sense of life.

On the other hand, a whole year of hard work finally resulted in a modern C++ GUI toolkit that's better than ever before. I'd even go that far and call it the best of all: I don't know of any other GUI toolkit that provides interfaces as flexible as Gtk::TreeView while maintaining compile-time type safety.

In real life, I eventually managed to join school again. I really like being there it's just that I don't like getting up at 6.30 in the morning. Well, it'd have been better if I'd managed to get there on Monday too, since I was supposed to take a major test in chemistry. But it's too late to regret it now. We're in test season now and today I wrote a test in German (the subject, I do all my tests in the language German :). I performed better than I thought (it's not actually my favourite subject) but I'll have to wait for the results to be sure.

Weekend now. This means working on my new pet project regexxer, I hope to get a release out Really Soon Now (tm). Since gtkmm2 is now stable any excuses are void.
