There few days have been pretty hectic. After analyzing the speed difference between pure ASP code, ASP&VB and ASP&C++, these are the early results and my conclusions...

• ASP is not an acronym for Active Server Pages, it is more like Absolutely Severe Problems. Things like this is what really makes me appreciate PHP. Everyone claiming that ASP is superiour to just about everything are hereby sentenced to decapitation for life, not stopping until the toes are reached.
• VB is actually not that bad - it is much worse, actually. Use it and cry.
• String management in C++ is about 2000 times more effective than VB, even when using STL strings. Still, COM components in Windows are pretty strange. Not as strange as women, but what is?

The worst part is that I have to continue my tests tomorrow, now with a connection to an Access database. Somebody, please shoot me!

Tebax
A first version with only backup functionality was created today. It will appear on my new webpage. Tebax is Swedish only for now, and will probably stay that way until I find out more about Windows programming. String tables or something like that should come in handy.

Finished the webpage. Will be uploaded to a new spot in the near future, since my old address will stop working once I quit studying at the university.

Improved the automatic backup application quite a bit. It is now faster and contains far less bugs. Planning on moving to the BZ2 compression library. This app is still Windows only, though...

Other stuff
Tacos at the student hangout today. As much food as you can eat, plus a beer, for a price that is so cheap that it's almost silly.

Did not actually do anything useful. Useless day.

Recieved breakfast at a meeting with Ericsson Business Consulting. Thanks guys, but I really don't need any more coffee. OK, maybe just a little bit more then. What kind of losers need to sleep anyway?

A word of advice to all of you programmers out there: do not attempt to drink the coffee that has been heating up for five days. As soon as it get the consistence of syrup, it is just plain stupid even thinking about drinking/eating it. Well, at least I'm wide awake and not a single bit sleepy.

CoolCloset
This is the name of my Java database engine, a direct translation of the swedish word for refrigerator, "kylskåp". Pretty strange name, huh? Design is what you could consider done. Now to perform tech tests to see if the current design is possible to implement with my current knowledge.

WarpIN
Started thinking about constructing a solution for the often ASCII mangled WarpIN packages, something that happens quite often thanks to no servers knowing about the format. This could be achieved without breaking compatibility with older installers thanks to the scan-for-archive method in the code. Don't you just love it when things like that happen?

Other stuff
Got a job interview tomorrow. Getting a job would be great - you make more money compared to the miserable amounts you get while studying, and there just might be some more spare time for me. Anyway, it is time for coffee and code...

Started designing an object oriented database-like thing in Java. This could be nice to have in future projects, and could prove quite a challenge to implement since my knowledge in Java is somewhat limited.
