it's been a few days... sorry's... et. al.

CD's... gawd what a pile... i finally gave in to spousal pressure and cleaned up my office... a part of that task was to eliminate some of the more dust-ridden CD's before the cabinet they were stacked in collapsed under their weight... now the trash can is immovable... ~sigh... I did find out that I've got every version of Red Hat going back to 2.x... woohoo... what a collection... :-)

but... the office is now in the most pristine state it's been in for quite a while... I even did some "non-vertical" filing... it won't last...

xfce is fixed... the race has been found and eliminated... not bad... it only took about 3 days of testing... Olivier has released 3.8.1 which is nice... turns out that the problem had been there for a long, long time and the recent changes which were adding new capabilities to xfce exascerbated it...

took lucas fishing yesterday... he was bored 'cause he doesn't yet have the patience to do the work it takes to fish "my" way... I caught 10 fish in a couple of hours... was fun for me and he was phreaked at the one "hawg" I caught... but he wouldn't hold it... "too big", he said... sometimes doing "non-geek" things is essential to my sanity... i saw the QA guy from RH down at the lake drowning worms... nice guy but that style of fishing just isn't my cup of tea... i spend enough time "inert"... gotta move don't ya' know...

i'm in the middle of typing my latest diatribe for moongroup.com... it should be ready to publish ina couple more days... the latest db `guin should be out in a couple of days also... this one will finish the sopranos spoof and then we're off to... well... read the strip and you'll see...

on the lpi front the new database host should be ready for work tomorrow... that will be interesting... it also looks like we're gonna start rolling forward on Level 2 pretty quick now and in all likelihood we'll be updating Level One in the near term as well... fun... fun... fun...
