Older blog entries for bruder (starting at number 14)

Hmm. One week later from my last "weekry" :-). In the weekend I was in Blumenau for my 4-year anniversary of my wedding. :-). In the mean time, the "Web Tools" Project is moving along. My home in mean time is busy. An Uncle of mine (and family) is arriving 19/07, and the brother of my wife (and family) is arriving 22/07 , and I'm going to FENASOFT @ 23/07 (!!). Oh.

I have to prepare today my speech for the Fenasoft Congress. Oh. Boredom.

Hmm. From 17 jun to now? I gave a speech about Conectiva Linux 5.1 server edition to half Conectiva (non tech depts), great. Because of that speech I'll talk that speech (half of) in FENASOFT, at Conectiva's stand. I'll give a "Linux as a server in a heterogeneous network" and other speech that I don't remember right now @FENASOFT congress, too.

AHh. Eitch is here, that is the cause of a soo weak weekend in PontoBR :)))

Unrelated comment: SAC (SASC or whatever) is late, late, late. OUCH!

Unrelated comments 2 and 3: I'm still without conectivity @home.. ARGHGH!!!)!*@#$(@&#$%. and I'm talking with Claudio to make a hack of aacam to make a Lynx-enabled webcam :)

Rodarvus think that I'm a Journeyer, so do I. :)

I'm planning a heavy clean-up in this weekend in the PontoBR code to release it in GPL.. I have to centralize the configuration, make the layout configurable, etc. In the Conectiva side, I'm figh^H^H^H^Hworking in the SASC code (ask Andreas the meaning of SASC :)) AH. Now the webcam @distro is public, if you have nothing to do and want to watch a group of geeks working, see us at http://distro.conectiva.com.br/webcam/.

@Home I'm now trying the ReiserFS thing in my root partition.. (Conectiva Linux Servidor 5.1 Beta). Rodarvus/GWM/etcetera thinks that I'm late in the "I've got to try this ReiserFS" thing..

Oh, another PontoBR-related news. PontoBR was invited to integrate the LUG's-booth in Linux Expo Brasil. We are thinking: "Great!. But what PontoBR will do in a Linux Expo?" Besides, We have to get banners or sponsors to pay the costs of the trip/hotel/equipment/etcetera..

Since my last diary entry, we sended a lot of articles/news to lwn, linuxpr, linuxtoday, bugtraq, etcetera. great, Conectiva everywhere! :)

PontoBR was down from monday until yesterday. The support people from Matrix take it down, using the argument that my code (persistent connections to MySQL via mysql_pconnect() in PHP) was taking the entire server down.. ?!?! !@#()&!@. I have to dedicate more time to PontoBR..

The new automated announce system is taking form, playing with multilingual ideas for the other Midgard sites @Conectiva.. cool.

Probably my Midgard RPM's dont go in Servidor 5.1, freeze time, oh. Probably this is hapening because I'm a complete RPM-NEWBIE. I hate that :-/.

We (Aurélio, Andreas and me) have decided that the actual submission update system earned the right to a complete rewrite. database-design-time.

mod_midgard 1.4b3 doesn't compiles on Conectiva Linux Servidor 5.1 (beta) because of the compiler used in Apache package. ARGH. Beside this, my harddrive finally arrived. Its the wrong one (10G), but with one month of waiting.. :-/ Install-time latter @home.. :-)

Great changes since my last entry: I've made a event in Blumenau (CONINFO), the beta pages got substituted by distro.conectiva.com.br made in Midgard, the link @Conectiva doubled from 256 to 512k and I'm starting YASFC (yet another site for Conectiva). Midgard is just so cool.

bazar died a horrible death today, and I and Andreas got to tighten up the Apache configuration (security-wise).. My wife will travel today, I have to go.

Today/Yesterday I worked/fighted with the ZOPE servers here @Conectiva to do a minor change in our beta.conectiva pages: Announce the 5.1 beta, only to found that ZOPE thrown away all my changes from yesterday. ARGH. LWN, linux.trix and PontoBR (:)) published the beta, and our link saturated 100%. Cool. Time to a new server or a new link.. :)

To complete my day, the NFS server of my /home died a horrible death. WHAT A DAY.

Riel sugested today we buy a large HD to put MP3's here in Conectiva. The problem is that a 20G one will have ZERO space left two hours after been instaled here :)

Today I finally installed Midgard, and tried some benchmarks, comparing with ZOPE. Results? Midgard 1, Zope 0. My home box have a faulty HD now, I will have to buy a new one. :-/

12 hours in office today, I'm competing with Riel, this is not good. :-)
