Notes: I work in the R&D department of Fast Search & Transfer ASA in Norway -- a company that creates lots of interesting technology. Among other things a large scale Internet search-engine....or four. Of course, using mostly open source tools.
Hopefully I'll have time to write more here later about open source projects I am involved in, but I'd like to get them to the Alpha stage at least before I announce :-)
in other news...I am thinking about open sourcing a TCP proxy that was written to handle large amounts of long-running interactive connections on what is today rather anemic hardware. (a few thousand interactive users on a 200Mhz pentium Pro if memory serves. basically telnet sessions).
the server is quite neat and the source code is quite small, but I don't know if anyone actually needs a proxy server that can handle thousands of interactive connections with low CPU overhead. would it be worth the trouble to open source it? would anyone actually be willing to help develop it further?
you tell me :-)
